Izabela Chamczyk (born 1980)
She graduated with distinction in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław in 2009, and also studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. Painter – performer – video artist. She creates processual, sensual, emotional art, referring to sexuality and corporeality. She stands out for her originality and courage in exploring the boundaries of art, which makes her work unique and important in the context of contemporary artistic discourses. She confronts and engages in live contact with the recipient, engaging strong emotions at the same time.
She created the phrase performative painting, which combines the image with the performance taking place in time. Through her art, she tries to reach the sphere of the outside world, beyond the gallery.
Izabela Chamczyk is a three-time scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, a finalist of prestigious competitions such as: the Vordemberge – Gildewart Foundation competition at MOCAK, Hestia Artistic Journey, the Bielska Jesień Painting Biennale, the E. Geppert competition in Wrocław, the Young Triennial in Orońsko. She has had many individual and collective exhibitions and activities in places such as the Foksal Gallery, Warsaw, the SCC Gallery in Isfahan (Iran), the Musrara festival (Israel), the Zachęta Project Space in Warsaw, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, the Gierowski Foundation in Warsaw, the Entropia Gallery in Wrocław, the Biała Gallery or the Labirynt Gallery in Lublin, the GSW in Opole, the BWA in Zielona Góra, the CSW in Toruń, Mosart in Gorzów Wlkp., the Konteksty Festival of Ephemeral Art in Sokołowsko, the ERARTA festival in Saint Petersburg (Russia). Her works can be found in many collections, including: the National Museum in Wrocław, the National Museum in Lublin, MCSW Elektrownia in Radom, Imago Mundi Collection, Włochy, PKO Bank Polski, Andel’s Hotel, Ergo Hestia, CSW Toruń, Zachęta Lower Silesian Wrocław, the Performance Archive of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, and many private collections in Poland and abroad.
