The cutting of a heart (a pig's heart, which is structurally most similar to a human's) reflects the state of a heart wounded by love.

The state of being in love sometimes takes on forms that are inadequate, excessive, pathological, and life-disrupting. Obsessive thoughts, insomnia, and emotional arousal—from euphoria to despair—can occur.

F63.9 is a diagnostic category of the International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-10) that designates unspecified disorders of habits and impulses in a state of being in love.
