COMPASSION / 2016

The performance took place at the Labirynt New Art Festival, Słubice/Frankfurt (Oder), 2016.

The performance was a response to an invitation to the festival without providing the artist with the bare minimum: travel expenses were not reimbursed, there was no honorarium, and neither materials nor food were paid for. I decided to put the audience in an uncomfortable situation, as I had been put in one myself. It was winter and temperatures were below freezing. During the performance, I removed items of clothing from the participants, put them on myself, and then went to the bathroom in them. The donation of clothes was made with the consent of the participants and without coercion or force.

After the performance, I was physically attacked (shocked and my jacket torn) by festival curator Michael Kurzwelly (whose pants I had removed during the performance, with his consent, as seen in the photos and video).
