PSYCHOANIMALJA. Wro Art Center, Wrocław, 2016

PSYCHOANIMALJA – an exhibition of video works presented in the convention of nature documentaries, exploring non-human disorders in the behavior of other living creatures.

The animals captured on camera are subjected to close psychological observation. The exhibition attempts to reconstruct the intricate labyrinth of the psyche, where specifically human anomalies literally return to the lap of nature. In the imaginary world of PSYCHOANIMALJA, the boundary between human and animal blurs—if such a boundary can be drawn at all, or if one can even determine who is truly the participant of a therapy session here.

The universe of PSYCHOANIMALJA is the result of a collaboration between painter, performer, and video artist Izabela Chamczyk, journalist Agnieszka Obszańska, and psychologist Renata Iwaniec.
